On the afternoon of April 25, Tang Fuping, President of China Minmetals, met with GFG Alliance CEO Sanjeev Gupt to exchange views on deepening cooperation and other issues of common concern.
Tang Fuping extended a warm welcome to Sanjeev Gupt and his delegation for their visit to China Minmetals and introduced the development overview of China Minmetals in recent years. He pointed out that since the strategic reorganization with MCC in 2015, China Minmetals has built a "four beams and eight column" business system around metal mining, metallurgical construction, trade logistics and financial real estate in accordance with the requirements of high-quality development. Its business performance has been continuously improving, with the business income in 2018 exceeding RMB 500 billion. At present, the total asset under the management of China Minmetals reaches RMB 1.86 trillion.
Tang Fuping stressed the achievements of China Minmetals in the field of metallurgical construction. It has respectively accounted for 90% and 60% of the total metallurgical construction market in China and all over the world, and designed and constructed several large-scale steel projects at home and abroad, enjoying a high reputation in the world. Especially in recent years, the supply-side structural reform of the steel industry and the improvement of environmental protection requirements around the world have made their technological advantages and innovation ability more prominent, and provided them with a good opportunity to show themselves. He hoped to further strengthen the cooperation between the two sides in relevant fields and achieve mutual benefits and win-win results.
Mr. Gupt expressed his gratitude to Tang Fuping for his warm welcome and introduced the development overview of GFG Alliance in recent years. He indicated the rapid expansion of GFG Alliance in recent years, especially in the past five years. Its business range has covered metal mining, energy, ports, real estate, trade and other industries. GFG Alliance and CISDI Group Co., Ltd. (CISDI) have a close cooperation, laying a solid foundation for the further expansion of mutual cooperation. He hoped that the two sides will strengthen cooperation, give full play to their respective advantages in technology, resources and trade, and jointly cope with the complex and changeable external environment, to promote common development.
The two sides also exchanged views on issues of common concern such as the development prospects of metal mining, cross-border mergers and acquisitions, the current development situation and challenges faced by the steel industry, the market operation mode of steel enterprises, the construction of mining projects and trade logistics.
